Water supply restored to Uisce Éireann customers in Kildare

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

A burst water main was repaired in the early hours of this morning following overnight works to restore supply to Carbury, Derrinturn, Killina, Allenwood, Coil Dubh, Robertstown, Prosperous and surrounding areas.

As the network fills and supplies return throughout the morning customers may experience discolouration to their supply. Customers on higher ground or at the end of the network may experience intermittent disruption or low water pressure for a number of hours. For more information, customers can visit the Discoloured water section of our website.

Uisce Éireann’s Operations Lead, Ibrahim Fathalla said, “We would like to thank residents and businesses for their patience and understanding while crews worked to restore supply. Some customers may have brown water and we would ask these customers to run their taps for up to 20 minutes until the water runs clear.

Previous Updates

Uisce Éireann is notifying customers in County Kildare that repairs to a burst water main will cause supply disruptions in Carbury, Derrinturn, Killina, Allenwood, Coil Dubh, Robertstown, Prosperous and surrounding areas.

Works are scheduled to take place until 8am on Wednesday, 23 October due to the location and complexity of the burst and works required.

Uisce Éireann recommends that you allow 3-4 hours after the estimated restoration time for your supply to fully return and it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.

Uisce Éireann’s Operations Lead, Ibrahim Fathalla, thanked customers for their patience while crews repair the burst as quickly as possible.

Our team on the ground will carry out repairs this evening and tomorrow morning and will monitor the network closely. Uisce Éireann would like to thank our customers for their patience during this period of supply outage and we regret the inconvenience caused. Uisce Éireann would also like to acknowledge the efforts of our team on the ground who are working hard to carry out the repair as quickly as possible.”

Customers may experience discolouration to their supply as a result of the repairs. In the event of discolouration, running the tap for several minutes will usually restore water to a clear colour. For more information, visit our discoloured water page.

Uisce Éireann is committed to keeping customers informed across multiple platforms 24/7 and we encourage customers to engage with us through our website, X channels @IWCare and @IrishWater, on Facebook and LinkedIn and through our customer care helpline which is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278.
