Croom customers can celebrate Christmas with new and improved water supply

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

With Christmas right around the corner, Uisce Éireann is delighted to confirm the completion of the Croom Rationalisation project. This represents an €8.6m investment which will improve water supply security and resilience to 1,700 customers in Croom and surrounding areas in County Limerick, while also supporting future social and economic development for the local community.

Uisce Éireann had previously identified Croom as an area where the existing drinking water infrastructure was not sufficient to meet current and future demand, and the area has been prone to frequent nighttime restrictions.  In addition to creating supply challenges for existing customers, this has also impacted on the delivery of new housing developments in the area.

This project included the provision of over 6km of rising main which has connected Croom to the Limerick City supply (Clareville Water Treatment Plant) which will support social and economic development in the Limerick village. This improved water supply has also addressed the importation of water into Croom through tankers, which was put in place on an interim basis to support customers and maintain a reliable and adequate supply.

Laura Heneghan, Programme Manager, Uisce Éireann said;

"This significant investment underscores our commitment to delivering essential improvements that enhance public services and enable communities to thrive. We are thrilled to deliver this project just ahead of Christmas so the local community can benefit from a more reliable and improved water supply over the holiday period.  I commend the project delivery team for their dedication and expertise in successfully completing the project, a milestone that will deliver lasting benefits for the community

Laura also expressed her gratitude to the local community for their support and patience throughout this essential project.
