Essential repairs at Letterfrack Water Treatment Plant may cause disruptions for customers
Uisce Éireann and Galway County Council wish to advise customers supplied by the Letterfrack water supply that we are working to resolve issues at the treatment plant caused by heavy snow and adverse weather. Water has been diverted into the area from the Tully Water Treatment Plant but some customers may experience lower pressure and some outages while we carry out repairs to the treatment plant as quickly and safely as possible in line with COVID-19 restrictions.
Uisce Éireann's Asset Operations Lead for Galway, Tim O'Connor explains: "Technical staff are working at the Letterfrack Water Treatment Plant to carry out repairs to the inlet valve which was damaged as a result of recent heavy snow and adverse weather.
"We would like to apologise to customers who are experiencing lower pressure and/or outages and are working as quickly as we can to rectify the problem.
"While these essential repairs are ongoing we are appealing to customers to conserve water wherever possible and to only use what they need whilst continuing to adhere to public health advice on hand washing and hygiene regarding COVID-19. Simple water conservation efforts can have a big impact, such as taking showers over baths and fixing dripping taps where it is possible to do so. There are lots more tips on how to conserve water in your home, business or school on the Water Conservation section of our website."
Uisce Éireann understands the inconvenience when an outage and low pressure occurs and thanks customers for their patience while we work to carry out these essential repairs. Uisce Éireann and Galway County Council regrets any inconvenience caused. Our customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on Twitter @IWCare with any queries they may have. For updates please see the Supply and Service Updates section of our website.
Uisce Éireann continues to work at this time with our Local Authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of both staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of critical drinking water and wastewater services. Uisce Éireann would like to remind people to follow the HSE COVID-19 advice and ensure frequent handwashing.
