Water supply returns to Galway’s Old Dublin Road after overnight works
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Water supply has returned to the Old Dublin Road area of Galway City this morning after Uisce Éireann successfully completed overnight repairs to a large water main in the area.
The overnight works, which were necessary to repair a significant burst on the network near Woodhaven Lodge, caused a water supply disruption to approximately 2,000 homes and businesses in the area last night.
Works began at 11pm last night and were completed in the early hours of this morning. Crews working on behalf of Uisce Éireann remained on site to ensure that supply had returned to normal levels for all affected customers.
Leo O’Shea of Uisce Éireann thanked affected customers for their cooperation while these essential works were being carried out.
“Uisce Éireann acknowledges the disruption that can be caused by a planned outage such as this one and we wish to thank customers in the area for their patience while these essential works were underway,” said Leo.
Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers.
However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.
Uisce Éireann is committed to keeping customers informed across multiple platforms 24/7 and we encourage customers to engage with us through our website, X channels @IWCare and @IrishWater, on Facebook and LinkedIn and through our customer care helpline which is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278.
