Overnight restrictions for Trim to allow reservoir levels recover

The restrictions are necessary to maintain a daytime supply for the community

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Overnight restrictions are necessary for Uisce Éireann customers in Trim tonight to maintain a daytime supply for the community.

The restrictions will be in place from 10pm tonight, Wednesday 04 September, until 6am tomorrow morning, Thursday 05 September, to allow local reservoir levels recharge.

Customers in the following areas may experience outages or reduced pressure: Trim, Rathmoylon, Knightsbrook, Scurlockstown, Effernock, Carberstown, Blackfriary, Crowpark and surrounding areas.

Uisce Éireann’s Michael Cunniffe said “We understand the inconvenience that this third night of restrictions is causing, and we would like to reassure customers that we are doing all that we can to return to normal service as quickly as possible. The majority of customers should have adequate storage in their attic tanks to provide for essential uses such as flushing toilets for the duration of this restriction. However, customers can help conserve water by not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and postponing using dishwashers and washing machines where possible.”

“Customers can find useful water saving tips at the Conservation section on this website. This also includes an easy-to-use conservation calculator so you can work out how much water you are currently saving and how to conserve even more.

Meanwhile, Uisce Éireann continues with works to improve the water supply in Trim including interim upgrades at the treatment plant which are due for completion this year.

Our longer-term plan to upgrade Trim Water Treatment Plant and secure the water supply for current and future generations is also progressing. This includes works to upgrade and modernise the plant and address ongoing operational issues, meet demand, enhance resilience, and ensure that the drinking water supplies meet requirements under the Drinking Water Regulations. Planning permission has been granted and, following additional consents and pre-construction works, it is envisaged that construction will commence in Q4. We will continue to provide updates on timelines as we progress the project.

The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on X @IWCare with any queries. For updates on local water supply issues, please visit the Water Supply Updates section of our website.
