Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Uisce Éireann is working to address supply interruptions to impacted customers across County Limerick following Storm Éowyn. Repair crews have commenced restoration works in areas where the status red weather warning has been lifted. Our priority is the provision of clean safe drinking water to communities and the safety of water services staff who work to make that happen.

Overnight, more than thirty water treatment plants were impacted by power outages across County Limerick. As weather conditions eased, Uisce Éireann crews began working alongside the ESB to assess damage and restore impacted supplies. As of 3.00pm this afternoon, a number of water treatment plants have recommenced production, as power has returned, or alternative power sources have been mobilised.

Areas that continue to be impacted include Abbeyfeale environs, Adare, Athea, Athlacca, Ballingarry, Ballyagran, Caherconlish, Carrigkerry, Clouncagh, Herbertstown, Jamestown, Glin, Hospital, Montpelier, Oola, Rathkeale, and Tobergal/Feonagh. Customers in the impacted areas are expected to experience reduced water pressure or loss of supply. Updates on local supply issues will be provided on the Uisce Éireann website, www.water.ie, as they become available.

Duane O’Brien, Operations Manager with Uisce Éireann said, “This is an unprecedented storm event following which we are still assessing the full extent of the disruption to supplies. We understand how disruptive unplanned outages are and we ask for the public’s continued patience and cooperation as crews work around the clock where it is safe to do so to restore supply to impacted areas. We would also like to advise customers that overnight water restrictions may be required over the coming days to conserve water and allow reservoir levels to recover.”

Homes and businesses are being asked to be mindful of their water usage and conserve water to allow supply to catch up with demand. Customers can find useful water saving tips on our conservation section. This also includes an easy-to-use conservation calculator so you can work out how much water you are currently saving and how to conserve even more.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. As per best practice, most homes and businesses will have on-site water storage to provide a backup source of water for sanitation purposes.

The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on X @IWCare with any queries. For updates please visit the Water Supply Updates section.
