Uisce Éireann restoring water to East Mayo and West Roscommon customers
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Uisce Éireann is aware that customers in parts of East Mayo and the Mayo/Roscommon border are experiencing a disruption to their water supply this morning.
A power outage at Barnacarroll Pumping Station has affected customers in the following areas:
- Barnacarroll
- Knock
- Logboy/Tulrahan
- Brickens
- Ballyhaunis
- Granlahan
- Ballinlough
- Cloonfad
- Loughglynn
- Williamstown
- A number of group water schemes including: Carrowmore, Liscat,Derry, Knocktober, Bekan, Coogue, Larganboy, Gurteen/Carrowkeel, Annagh, Cave, Abbeyquarter, Lecarrow, Bunnadober and Delvis/Knockbrock are also affected by the power outage.
However, Uisce Éireann crews have a generator operating on site and water should be returning to the areas affected later today.
Meanwhile, flushing works will be carried out on the network this morning in order to minimise any discolouration to the supply, explained Uisce Éireann’s Colette Scahill. “After a disruption to a water supply, customers can often experience discolouration to their water due to dry water mains. Once water re-enters the system sediment in the pipes can cause discolouration for a short period of time. To minimise the risk of this we will be flushing the system this morning in preparation for a return of full supply to customers later today.”
