Water supply restored to Uisce Éireann customers in Co. Wicklow

Water supply is returning to normal for customers in Wicklow following overnight works to restore supply to Ashford, Glenealy, Rathnew and parts of Wicklow town.

As the network fills and supplies return throughout the morning customers may experience discolouration to their supply. Customers on higher ground or at the end of the network may experience intermittent disruption or low water pressure for a number of hours. Uisce Éireann’s Eoghan Forristal said “We would like to thank residents and businesses for their patience and understanding while crews worked to restore supply. Some customers may have brown water and we would ask these customers to run their taps for up to 20 minutes until the water runs clear.

Uisce Éireann is working to restore water supply as quickly as possible to impacted customers in parts of Wicklow town, Ashford, Glenealy and Rathnew, Co. Wicklow. Areas affected in Wicklow town include Wicklow Heights, Saunders Lane, Hawkstown, Ashtown Lane, The Friary, Kirwin Hill and surrounding areas.

Following an increase in water demand and low levels at Cronroe Reservoir, homes and businesses in these and surrounding areas may experience disruptions to water supply or low water pressure.

Uisce Éireann’s Eoghan Forristal said: “We understand the inconvenience unplanned outages can have on customers and we appreciate the community’s patience as we work to restore the water supply for affected customers.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
