National Leakage Reduction Programme
Uisce Éireann in partnership with Dublin City Council is replacing problematic water mains in Ballsbridge, Co. Dublin to provide a more reliable water supply, reduce high levels of leakage and improve water quality.
Uisce Éireann continues to deliver the National Leakage Reduction Programme, fixing leaks and replacing old, damaged pipes across the Country, to provide a safer more reliable supply of water to Irish homes and businesses. We are continuing with the works that involve the replacement of 6.5km's of aged cast iron water mains with new modern pipes. The programme to replace the water mains in Ballsbridge will help reduce drinking water lost by leakage and will improve water quality.
To date, 4km's of watermains have been replaced, with 2.5km's left to complete in the coming months. GMC Utilities Group is working on behalf of Uisce Éireann to deliver this work.
The following streets have had watermains replaced in Ballsbridge:
- Raglan Road

- Pembroke Lane
The section of works will take place Northwest of the River Dodder from Clyde Lane towards Sussex Terrace including works on the R138.
The works will also involve laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers' property boundaries and connecting it to the customers' water supply.
What are the benefits of the works?
The benefits of these leakage reduction works include:
- Reliable Water Supply - Replacement of problematic water mains and service connections will reduce the instances of bursts and interruptions to the water supply reducing disruption for homes and businesses in the area.
- Reduced Leaks - Replacement of problematic water mains and service connections will eliminate existing leaks and reduce the amount of clean drinking water lost into the ground.

Will customers be affected by the works?
Areas of work will be limited to short sections to minimise impact on customers. Traffic management may be in place during this time. Traffic management will be in the form of a stop & system.
The works may involve some short-term interruptions to the water supply. The project team will ensure that customers are given a minimum of 48 hours notice prior to any planned interruption.
We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient. Works crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works cause.
