Kilmore Quay Sewerage Scheme

Wastewater Project

Uisce Éireann has completed the construction of new wastewater infrastructure in Kilmore Quay.

Uisce Éireann, working in partnership with Wexford County Council, has completed the construction of a new sewerage scheme for Kilmore Quay in Co. Wexford. This project involved the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) and sewerage infrastructure which has ended the discharge of municipal raw sewage into the quay and harbour areas. The new WWTP has capacity to serve a population equivalent of 850. John Sisk & Sons Ltd. delivered the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann.

Municipal sewage originally entering the Kilmore Quay public sewer network was previously discharged without treatment to the Eastern Celtic Sea. The discharge of raw sewage is not sustainable as it threatens water quality and detracts from the amenity value of the coastal waters.
