Framework for Future Delivery of Water Services
New Asset Operations Organisation Structure
As of November 2024, Asset Operations has moved to its new national organisation structure in a move towards a shared and fully integrated Uisce Éireann. We have commenced this process with the Streaming of Water and Wastewater teams all over Ireland and getting vital supporting teams such as our Centres of Excellence, Asset Operations Support, Control and Leakage stood up. Establishing these teams is a hugely important aspect of the new structure to allow frontline staff to focus solely on their operational activities while driving improvements. By the end of 2024 there will be a dedicated focus on frontline in two of our regions, and our teams will be streamlined into Water and Wastewater wherever operationally feasible. Staff in the Frontline and Leakage teams in the Northwest and Southeast Midlands will not make this change until early 2025.
During this transitionary period, safeguarding the health and safety of all personnel and our service users, and the ongoing stability of operations and service continuity remain our top priorities. We will carry out appropriate Risk Assessments in each area as we move to standing up the new teams and structures so that we can mitigate any challenges that may arise.
We would like to thank all our colleagues in Uisce Éireann and across Water Services for all the work to date which has enabled us to reach this significant milestone. It illustrates what can be achieved together as we serve our communities, delivering water services for Ireland.
Thank you all for your continued dedication to water services.

What to expect in your HR One to One meeting
Please find our updated FAQ Booklet based on questions asked by Local Authority Water Services staff members at our first round of in person briefings.
The Pipeline
Welcome to The Pipeline, our new dedicated newsletter for Water Services Staff. In this second edition of our newsletter, you’ll find our recent interview with Caroline O’Kane who previously worked in Limerick City and County Council, and her thoughts on how Uisce Éireann can continue building on the great legacy of the Local Authorities, delivering water services, and working for the communities of Ireland. If there is something you would like to read about in the next edition of “the pipeline”, please contact your local line management or email LAStaffqueries@water.ie directly.
How the HR One to One meeting will work
These meetings are being held locally and virtually via Zoom in each Local Authority area. Once you submit your Request for Information, we send you an email requesting you to compile your Details of Employment with the Local Authority, i.e. your current salary, grade, overtime, allowances, and all existing agreements in place with your employer. Only information provided by you will be used for the discussion.
We will be able to provide a comparison between the Uisce Éireann pay model and the mirrored LA pay model based on the information you supply. An Uisce Éireann HR representative will then go through all your information with you and confirm the guarantees in relation to your existing terms and conditions, as well as answer any individual questions you may have in relation to transferring to Uisce Éireann.
Following on from this meeting, you can confirm your intention to transfer to Uisce Éireann and we will follow up with formal contract information. You can also decide not to join at this time and consider all your options further before deciding to transfer later. All staff in water services will have the option to join Uisce Éireann up to the end of 2026.
